Billie and Me
Created, written and produced by Sarah Cropper
Music Direction by Terri Lyne Carrington
For many, Billie Holiday was the definitive singer, an innovative composer, and a remarkable actress. To a
few, she was also a lover and wife, a pleasure seeker and drug addict. To everyone she was – and still is – an icon, a commodity, myth and mystery.
'Billie and Me' is a fantastic celebration of the life, career and lasting influence of
the woman who sang survival songs like no other. As a production, it breaks the mould because it is
told only by women: artists and performers, all of whom have been influenced by Lady Day.
